Bir and Billing are the twin positions where the event will be
hosted. This site is regarded as among the best in the world for Paragliding. The bald rise of Billing (2600 M) is the take-off site and Bir (2080 M) is the landing site. The road Distance between the two is 14 Km. It is sheltered by the Dhauladhar mountains and
surrounded by tea gardens whereas Billing offer opportunities for high altitude and cross country flying for more than 200 KM. The world record for out and return paragliding
was set at Bir Billing by a Frenchman Xavier Redmond when he flew 132.5 Km. The small towns of Taragarh, Baijnath and Jogindernagar are close to Bir-Billing and large
town of Palampur is 38 Km from Bir. Himachal Pradesh is conducting Paragliding Pre World Cup of International level since 2002 at Bir-Billing every year with the support of Aero Club of India.
Department of Youth Services & Sports intends to organize
Paragliding International Championship Bir–Billing India-2012 (FAI-C-II) and Himalayan National Paragliding Championship Bir- Billing -2012 in this year. The efforts of the Department will be to make this event a Paragliding festival of Himalayas.

Event Mascot: Event Mascot is an eagle with wings outstretched and extended for wide bearing a Himachali Cap and jauntily sporting a Himachali scarf. The eagle is strapped to a paragliding that carried it higher and farther into the sky and
is framed against the sphere, i.e. representative of the world showing “Khelo Bharat Khelo” at the top.
